Nemory is a smart bookmark manager that prioritizes your privacy. This policy explains our transparent data collection practices.

Core Principle: Nemory respects your privacy by default. Sync and semantic search are powerful optional features, but you never have to use them.

Local-First Processing

The browser extension operates offline by default:

  • •Search executes locally on your device
  • •Bookmarks load from browser storage only
  • •Data remains on your computer unless sync is activated

What We Do NOT Collect (Default)

When using local search, Nemory does not collect:

  • •Personal information
  • •Browsing history
  • •Analytics data
  • •Cookies or tracking pixels
  • •Search queries and bookmark titles

What We Collect (Optional Sync Only)

If you enable bookmark sync, you will:

  • •Log in with an email address
  • •Transfer bookmarks to our servers
  • •Store authentication tokens locally

Data sent during sync:

  • •Email address for account identification
  • •Bookmark titles, URLs, and folder organization
  • •Bookmark hash for change tracking
  • •Session/authentication tokens via httpOnly cookies

Usage of sync data:

  • •Cross-device synchronization
  • •Account authentication
  • •Change detection between sessions

What We Do NOT Do With Your Data

  • ✗Share bookmarks with third parties
  • ✗Use data for advertising
  • ✗Analyze or sell bookmark information
  • ✗Track browsing behavior

Semantic Search Feature

When you use semantic search:

  • •Search queries are sent to our server
  • •You can optionally upload bookmarks
  • •Results are displayed without server storage
  • •Operates independently from sync functionality

Browser Permissions

Bookmarks

Reading and displaying bookmarks. Local access only unless sync is enabled.

Active Tab

Capturing page info when bookmarking. Current tab's title and URL only.

Storage

Saving authentication tokens for sync. Only if sync is enabled.

Security

  • •HTTPS encryption protects all server transmissions
  • •Authentication tokens use httpOnly cookies (script-safe)
  • •Plaintext passwords are not stored
  • •Sync remains completely optional

Your Control

You can:

  • •Operate Nemory entirely offline using local search only
  • •Disable sync anytime (server data deletion occurs)
  • •Use semantic search without bookmark sync
  • •Delete your account and all associated data

Policy Changes

We reserve the right to update this policy. Continued use after modifications constitutes acceptance. Significant changes will receive notification via the extension.
